Here in 10 minutes flat! by Clair
I was about eight days away from my due date. I had a sudden urge to empty my constantly full bladder at around 3:25 a.m., so I got up and went into the bathroom and sat down on the toilet and began to relieve myself.
As I was about to get off the toilet, my water broke. I sank back down as contractions began to get the best of me. I yelled for my husband, Chris, who basically slept-walk into our bathroom.
"I'm in labor. The baby's coming now!" I groaned.
Chris called the hospital while I moaned and pushed on the toilet. I couldn't get up. It was way too painful. At this point, the water was still gushing out of me, and I was in hard labor.
The rest all happened very fast. Chris got off the phone with the hospital and I gave birth squatting over the toilet. I gave birth to a 9-pound, 11-ounce healthy baby girl at approximately 3:30 a.m., who we named Charity. I never dreamed that I would have her at home, let alone in my own bathroom!
